Ramen Afro Beats is the second brand from Ramen Break Beats, opened on March 11, 2023 near Shinjuku Gyoenmae Station. The parent shop's owner, Yanase Takuro, trained in Italian, French, and Japanese restaurants in Canada before returning to Japan during the pandemic to open Break Beats in January 2022. Afro Beats is managed by Shoji Hiroki, a former company employee and passionate ramen enthusiast who was recruited by Yanase after being a regular customer. The shop specializes in foam-style chicken paitan (tori paitan) using the rare heritage breed Amakusa Daioh chicken, historically prized in Hakata mizutaki hot pot. The rich broth is lightly aerated into a creamy foam and finished with seasonal espuma toppings such as truffle porcini, creating a luxurious double-bubble texture. Noodles are custom-made to complement the intensely flavorful chicken broth, and the signature Tokujou bowl is priced at 1,650 yen.
